DEODORANT STAINS: TRICKS FOR PREVENTION

T-shirt stains - is it deodorant or sweat? The answer may surprise you! In addition to wet stains, which are difficult to avoid, since sweating is a natural process of the human body, white and yellow stains also often appear on clothes.

White deodorant stains

White deodorant stains are not an overly serious nuisance - they appear when, for example, we put on a black t-shirt too quickly and carelessly, even though we have just applied deodorant.

  • How do we remove them?

Removing white deodorant stains is usually easy. It already helps if you just wipe the shirt with a paper tissue - as soon as possible, so that the white stain does not dry. If this is not enough, use soap or baking soda (mixed with a little water).

  • How do we avoid them?

White deodorant stains can be easily avoided by waiting a while after applying the deodorant before putting on a shirt, so that the deodorant is well absorbed into the skin. When we put on the shirt, we are careful that the material does not rub directly on the armpit.

Yellow deodorant stains

Yellow deodorant stains are more worrying than white ones, as they are much more stubborn. What causes yellow spots? Sweat or deodorant? The answer is - both together.

Apocrine glands are located in the armpits - the path they secrete is different from the path on other parts of the body, as it is rich in fats and proteins. The yellow stains occur when the proteins in the sweat react with the aluminum in the deodorant.

  • How do we remove them?

Time plays an important role in the case of yellow deodorant stains - the sooner we react, the more likely we will be able to remove the stain.

Do not throw the t-shirt directly into the washing machine, as this way you can harden the stain even more. To remove yellow deodorant stains from a t-shirt, try the recipe below.

  1. Mix 1 cup of baking soda, 2 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  2. Wet the stain on the T-shirt with cold water.
  3. Apply the mixture to the stain and leave for at least half an hour.
  4. Rub the mixture into the stain with a brush. (Be careful not to damage the shirt fabric!)
  5. Wash in cold water, then machine wash at the lowest possible temperature
  • How do we avoid them?

Because yellow deodorant stains are so much more stubborn and can even ruin clothes forever, it's all the more worth the effort to avoid them altogether.

Avoiding yellow stains can be even easier than avoiding white ones!

Since we know that yellow deodorant stains are caused by the reaction between sweat and aluminum in the deodorant, the solution is at hand - choose a deodorant without aluminum.
